Univers Typeface Poster

This poster project was made as an undergrad at UIC, School of Art & Design as an undergrad. This course taught me a lot about the graphic design principles and typography. The Univers typeface was designed by the typographer, Adrian Frutiger. A quote I want to highlight from Adrian Frutiger reads, “From all these experiences the most important thing I have learned is that legibility and beauty stand close together and that type design, in its restraint, should be only felt but not perceived by the reader.”

In 2009 after graduating the University of Illinois at Chicago, I ventured out to California to work for the film production agency, Prologue Films, whose most known for their talented team of designers, creative film titles, film and television branding, and special effects. For the entire duration of 6 months at the studio, I designed the posters and marketing design assets for the David Fincher film The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

Invisible Cities, Book and Poster

These projects were made as an undergrad at UIC, School of Art & Design (now School of Design). For this graphic design course I wrote an essay on the Italo Calvino book, “Invisible Cities” which was then turned into a book. Another project in the class was to make paper sculptures as a way to experiment with composition in a three dimensional space. I used one of the paper sculptures in a mock promotional poster design. I tried to reflect the themes described in “Invisible Cities” with an emphasis on space, visual patterns, repetition of shapes, and colors.
