Univers Typeface Poster

This poster project was made as an undergrad at UIC, School of Art & Design as an undergrad. This course taught me a lot about the graphic design principles and typography. The Univers typeface was designed by the typographer, Adrian Frutiger. A quote I want to highlight from Adrian Frutiger reads, “From all these experiences the most important thing I have learned is that legibility and beauty stand close together and that type design, in its restraint, should be only felt but not perceived by the reader.”

Invisible Cities, Book and Poster

These projects were made as an undergrad at UIC, School of Art & Design (now School of Design). For this graphic design course I wrote an essay on the Italo Calvino book, “Invisible Cities” which was then turned into a book. Another project in the class was to make paper sculptures as a way to experiment with composition in a three dimensional space. I used one of the paper sculptures in a mock promotional poster design. I tried to reflect the themes described in “Invisible Cities” with an emphasis on space, visual patterns, repetition of shapes, and colors.

In 2011, I was a graphic designer at the University of Illinois (UIC) Innovation Center where I worked on redesigning their website, facility branding, and event poster production design. The Innovation Center focuses on technology development in research projects, in-house prototyping, hosting student events, and educational presentations.
